A Marshamallow Fluff Party

Good to know that spray insulation looks like marshmallow fluff. Insulation started today and roof is being finished in the back. After I took some pictures, I got a little nervous when I saw all the insulation guys wearing hazmat suits and gas masks. Whoops.  So maybe I shouldn’t have been inside? If I go nuts and have dementia, we will just blame today.

Roof

The roof is mostly shingled. Gina had to educate me on roofs. Otherwise I would have picked something cheap. But she drove me around and educated Me. Lol. So now I notice roofs. I love what we picked. The roofers have had a hard time finishing it as we ran short supplies and these shingles are back ordered since in high demand. That worries me it will be trendy.

Doors and windows are so Cool

I was so thrilled when the doors and windows arrived . It looks like a house! Ryan and I spent a long time going back and forth on window color. Dark bronze or black? We went with dark bronze in the end. The black was my first choice but after looking at homes we decided it was too harsh against the stone we were choosing for the exterior.  Probably the most important thing to me in this build was the window choice. I wanted real wood windows that added character to the home. The interior is not painted yet and just unpainted wood. Can’t wait. I feel bad for the person who has to take all the stickers and film off the glass. Sure hope it’s not me…My favorite room in the house. This is the family room and I’m taking the picture from standing in the kitchen area. I love the 5 sets of French doors with transoms above and the fire place. Andrew looks less impressed.

Back patio. I love the dark color.

Dining room. All the windows are actually much larger than they appear in the photos.

Pool Decisions

The pool planning has been more difficult than we imagined . We started with a straight line pool and ended with a free form. We built a pool 3-4 years ago and really loved it . We ended up going back to that shape . After a long process this is what we have come up with. Pretty similar to old pool but a few changes.

Here are some pictures of our old pool which is very similar. It was perfect for playing and diving.

Beginnings of a Roof

I had a really hard time visualizing the shape of the roof. It's much different when it comes to life. Generally I was pleased. There were some areas I did not love. I would have liked it to blend more. But I'm reminded it all blends in the end. We shall see.
I didn't know we would have Big Ben on the front. I'm told it's consistent with the French provincial style. But these are the kinds of things I didn't foresee when looking at paper plans.
First look at our stone as the chimneys were done. Caesar is the mason and he is very clean and precise. So grateful.

Odds and Ends

The selection process seems to never end. It's enjoyable but I also worry that I stay consistent with the style of my choices. Some garage door options. They would be painted very dark to match the roof.

Here are Some post options I like for the exterior patio. I think the dark will be a nice contrast with the painted brick in the back.
